University of Lampung
(Unila) was established with the Decree of the Minister of Higher Education and
Science
No. 195 dated
September 23, 1965. Unila officially became a State University the first in
Lampung Province on April 6, 1966, by the Decree of the President of the
Republic of Indonesia No. 73 of 1966. The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education
were inaugurated in 1968. Faculty of
Agriculture Inaugurated in 1973, Faculty of Engineering in 1991. Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and
Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences in 1995. Unila also opened a
Program Postgraduate in 2001 successively Master of Law Study Program, Master of Management,
Master of Economics, Master of Agro-industrial Technology, Master of Agronomy,
and Master of Educational Technology. Finally, Faculty of Medicine officially formed 2011.
The University of Lampung is highly committed to continuing Tridharma, the three pillars of higher education in Indonesia, for the sake of the development of the university as well as the nation. As stipulated in the long-term development plan in the period of 2005 – 2025, the university has established the vision:
“By the year 2025, the University of Lampung will have been among the top ten universities in Indonesia.” and the motto is innovating and Synergizing for the Country.
Currently 15 study programs at Unila are preparing for the international accreditation process; the S-1 Chemistry study program has been evaluated by the international accreditation agency Royal Society of Chemistry. a contract has been carried out with the international accreditation agency FIBAA for the accreditation process of 8 (eight) study programs from the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and with accreditation agencies ASIIN for 7 (seven) study programs from the Faculty of Agriculture and the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
The University of Lampung has successfully listed as the top 15 sustainable universities in Indonesia in the UI Greenmatric world university ranking award 2021. Unila also managed to rank ninth in the achievement of the Main Performance Indicators of Indonesian State Universities at the level of the Public Service
Agency.
A concrete example of The Lampung University (Unila) commitment
manifests itself through Unila's success in achieving various innovations that
re-establish Unila's integrity as a university that deserves to be taken into
account in the higher education scene in Indonesia and in the world.
Starting with the launch of an android-based E-commerce
digital platform initiated by lecturers of Faculty of Agriculture and Faculty
of Mathematics and Nature Science, namely AGROPED to overcome supply chain
problems and distribution of agricultural products. This application is also a
place to exchange information about agriculture between farmers and
agricultural extension officers and with experts at the University. Research
team of Faculty of Agriculture have also succeeded in producing breakthroughs
in overcoming problems of ‘too early harvesting’ cassava that the starch
content is low interbreeding cassava varieties with higher starch content that
can be harvested in young age.
In addition, Unila also introduced the first electric car
that using a natural fiber/ green composite material called Electric Vehicle
Unila (EVU) Involving many students in their research, the presence of this
electric car in its own added value because it is part of climate change mitigation
with reducing greenhouse gas emission.
The EVU put Unila in 15th rank of International UI Green
Metric assessment and supporting the Centre of sustainable development goals
program (SDG's) of Indonesia.
Unila also provides access for foreign students to studied
at Unila. Currently, there are 47 foreign students for admissions in 2021 and
2022. This number is very significant when compared to accumulative number of
foreign students during 2017 -2019 which is only 9 people. Currently Unila has
11 ABEST21 accredited study program and 1 RSC-accredited study program. In
addition, there are 7 Study Programs that have been and are in the process of
submitting documents to international accreditation institutions ASIIN, as well
as 8 study programs to FIBAA. This year, Unila again strives add at least 14
study programs to get international recognition. Unila also has an integrated
laboratory that has applied international laboratory management with ISO 17025:
2017 certificate and ISO 14000: 2015 certificate.
