University of Liverpool - Management School

United Kingdom

Postgraduate Overview

The University of Liverpool Management School is dedicated to helping people and organisations meet the significant leadership challenges posed by today's uncertain, changing world. We deliver education and training for undergraduates, postgraduates and management professionals at all stages of their careers and a leading research centre and consultancy. As you would expect from a top school, our research and education programmes cover all the key management disciplines, including economics, marketing, finance, operations, e-business and organisational behaviour. The University of Liverpool has a long tradition in the teaching of business and management subjects, dating to the 1800s when it introduced a special two-year ‘Business Curriculum’. The curriculum provided training to those seeking a business career and included English, Maths and foreign languages, but interestingly no commercial subjects. The University’s Business School was formed in the early 1960s offering post-experience courses, before adopting the American model of postgraduate study and research activity in 1966. Business and management studies developed into their present form with the opening of the University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) in 2002.

The University of Liverpool’s Management School has master’s programs in business analytics and big data, management, and finance, along with other program options. The master’s programs provide students with a strong foundation in the business and finance world, and so the school has been listed in the 2018 edition of the QS Business Master’s Ranking.

The business analytics course can either be studied in 12 months full-time, or 24 months part-time. The program was developed in collaboration with industry contributors and partners including PepsiCo and AstraZeneca. The finance program is affiliated with CFA institute, and so students who take part in the finance program will be prepared to sit the CFA exams. Speakers often come to speak to students; recently senior executives have visited from Burger King, UBS, and Wireless. The management program has courses in managing finance, and strategic risk management.

Application requirements vary between the master’s programs, so please visit the university website for information about each program.
