Propulsion and Engine systems play a vital role in development of various transport vehicles, aircrafts, rocket engines, ships and navel transport vehicle. The major source of energy to these systems is through the combustion and hence the design of combustion chamber plays a vital role. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) explores the design, monitoring and analysis of propulsion and engine systems. The core part of the course consists of modules, which are considered to build the necessary foundation of the combustion modelling. The advancements in combustion technology, challenges in designing advance combustion chambers like burners, IC engine Combustion systems, jet engine combustion systems, fuel injectors, supersonic combustors in Scramjets and Rocket engine combustions. The Modelling of these systems are associated with various challenges like flame stabilization studies, turbulence combustion, Spray Systems, multiphase combustion, Microgravity combustion, flames and reactive flows. This specialization covers recent trends in Modelling of Combustion and its available numerical models and computational tools along with the expectation for further developing CFD techniques in the field.
