University of Sopron

Comprising four distinct faculties, the University of Sopron is an internationally significant institution of higher education that serves both national and regional roles. The university is a major intellectual, educational, and research center in the region of western Hungary. The education at the university’s four faculties (Faculty of Forest Engineering, Faculty of Wood Engineering and Creative Industries, Elek Benedek Faculty of Pedagogy, Sándor Lámfalussy Faculty of Economics) is embedded in centuries of tradition. The University of Sopron’s main campus and most of its educational buildings stand within a wonderful botanical garden, which also serves educational, living plant collection, and recreational purposes.

In terms of spirit, the University of Sopron is definitely a “green university.” Our institution strives to shape the natural, social, and human environment, and its activities seek to preserve and improve quality of life through an environmentally conscious mode of thinking. This attitude is also reflected in the University’s slogan "Naturally With You!". The university nurtures moral and human values, and its operations and objectives strive to improve the region and the whole country. As declared in its Mission Statement, the University of Sopron strives to be “a continuously renewing, value-adding, university knowledge center in Central Europe.
