Germany has always been the central of European intellectual tradition and is now the driving force of its economy and the EU. German Studies at Warwick will explore the extraordinary breadth and depth of German language and culture in collaboration with recognised experts in the field. Intensive language work from advanced level opens the richness of German language and cultural life. Combining this with Arabic means students will graduate as highly qualified linguists with a deep understanding of key issues and developments in Germany’s past and present and advanced intercultural skills. Students will spend a quarter of their time on Arabic. This language can usually only be taken at beginner’s or post-GCSE (or equivalent) level maximum. The course aims to bring students to B2 standard (CEFR) in this language (this approximates to A Level) by the end of the degree. For those withany prior learning of the language please contact ugadmissions@ warwick.ac.uk before applying.
