Urgench State University

Urgench State University  is one of the oldest Universites of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Nowadays, Urgench State University is committed to excellence in teaching and research, distance education and the active promotion of scientists. 

The university is located in Khorezm, a region in northwestern Uzbekistan, one of the historical, cultural centres of the country. The region is popular with tourists because of the city of Khiva, which are listed as UNESCO World Heritage sites. The city boasts impressive architecture and historical monuments dating back more than 2500 years.

Khorezm also has a rich scientific heritage, especially in the history of science, and presents a unique research environment for the students. Great scientists of the 8th - 11th centuries, such as Al-Khorezmi, Al-Biruni, were born in Khorezm. They made significant contributions to the scientific knowledge that we have today. For example, the word algebra comes from the title of Al-Khorezmi's book, while the word algorithm comes from his name. By visiting historical sites in Khorezm, where these scientists worked, the students will expand their knowledge of the history of the 8th - 15th century science, in addition vast contribution of Al-Khorezmi's and Al-Biruni's works and how they fit into the development and history of mathematics.

Urgench State University provide a good scientific and educational environment more than 30000 students. More than 160 educational programs is developed by academic staff of the University and successfully implemented for bachelors, masters and doctorate students in the following fields of knowledge: Engineering, Mathematics, IT, History, Economics, Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Food Science, Pedagogy and many others.

Urgench State University is cooperating with foreign Universities in the framework of international credit mobility projects of Erasmus+. The University signed agreements on collaboration with more than 100 HEIs and scientific-research institutions. Our students has an opportunity to study in Italy, France, Slovenia, Spain, Portugal, Denmark, Poland, Greece, Russia and others countries.
