About Western Caspian University

Western Caspian University is situated in the heart of Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Established in 1991, Western Caspian University was one of the first private and higher educational institutions in Azerbaijan. 

Western Caspian University has participated in several international programs and strengthened its position in the world of education.

To date, Western Caspian University is a member of several significant institutions, including the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization – UNESCO (1992), the European Development Fund (EDF), the European Centre for Development Policy Management - ECDPM (1996); The Black Sea Universities Network (BSUN, 1999); The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS, 2000), and The European Association for Tourism and Leisure Education (ATLAS).

Students at Western Caspian University can study abroad, earn a dual diploma, enjoy affordable tuition fees, choose from a number of high quality programs delivered in foreign languages, utilize modern & unique laboratories, experience one of Azerbaijan’s richest libraries with over 60,000 publications, and make the most of enhanced opportunities for career development.

The main language of teaching is Azerbaijani, but some degree programs are taught entirely in English.

Western Caspian University encourages and welcomes applications from international students. 

International citizens hoping to enroll at Western Caspian University must apply through the International Relations Department.

Applicants who successfully pass the interview process are enrolled.

Necessary application documents include:• Completed application form•  A copy of international passport•  Two photos on red background•  A motivation letter up to 500 words•  A copy of diplomas and transcripts from previously attended institutions and educational programs in apostilled and notarized with English translation•  Medical examination report•  A copy of the IELTS (7.0) or equivalent of TOEFL IBT certificate

There are a number of Full and Merit Scholarships available at Western Caspian University for international applicants! The scholarships aim to encourage and support candidates with excellent academic performance from low income countries. This scholarship covers 100 percent of the tuition fee on a competitive basis. Initially awarded for one year, the scholarship can be extended to the following academic year depending on the student’s academic performance. 
Although living expenses and accommodation aren’t included in the scholarship, with the help of the university’s local partners, Western Caspian University does its best to help students find affordable accommodation around the university’s campuses. More

The university is spread across four campuses which are all located in the center of the city – aiding accessibility and mobility for students in the city. 

There are libraries, study rooms, study centers, and first aid centers on each campus.

Students can also utilize sporting facilities at the Ahmad Rajabli campus, including football, volleyball, and basketball courts. Similarly, students and the public can also enjoy climbing and table tennis at the center.


Student life

Western Caspian University welcomes students from all over the world, regardless of race, gender, language, nationality and religion.

Students at Western Caspian University can also choose to study foreign languages including Chinese, French, and German. 

The university currently has over 150 international students from eight different nationalities. 

Students at the university are encouraged to take part in extracurricular activities like the student clubs available on campus, including Sports Club Union, Debate Club, Bio Club, Model of UN Club.

Graduates from Western Caspian University are employed by local and international institutions from different sectors and industries. 

The university’s employment rate is very high – one of the highest in Azerbaijan – with 72 percent of graduates finding jobs six months after graduation. 

The Student and Alumni Internship and Development Center is always in close contact with students and alumni, to support them in their professional lives.

The university boasts eight faculties (schools), 11 departments and 22 chairs. Western Caspian University offers 30 bachelor’s programs and 16 master’s programs, teaching across a varied number of academic subjects, from the like of Information Technologies to Political and Social Sciences, from Business Administration to Ecology.

The admission and entry requirements for both bachelor’s and master’s programs are the same. 

National students will apply to their chosen educational program according to the results of their admissions exam which is taken by the State Examination Center.

However, for international students, it is based on application.

Required documents for international students include:

• Application form

• A copy of international passport

• Two photos on red background
