Cost of Living
Yozgat is a steppe city in Turkey where intensive agricultural production is the norm, consequently, the majority of the population is engaged in agriculture and agriculture-based industries. 60% of Yozgat's total land area is cultivated, which is significantly higher than the national average of 35%. The university primarily supports agriculture and farmers, and its research hospital provides public healthcare services. As one of Turkey's smaller and more affordable cities, living expenses for students are generally lower than in larger cities. Yozgat Bozok University, a state university, generally has a student profile consisting of children from low- and middle-income families in and around Yozgat province. Since the university's establishment, the city has gradually become more student-focused, with improved food and accommodation options. There are very low-cost state dormitories and the university's cafeterias provide sufficient capacity for students. (For accommodation and nutrition policies for staff and students, see https://kalite.bozok.edu.tr/file/09043d86-6.pdf — Turkish only.) As of December 2024, Turkey's annual inflation rate is 44.4%, and youth unemployment stands at 15%.
