The  Bachelor of Business Education  in  Secondary Education Business, Management, Marketing, and Technology  program prepares prospective secondary education teachers in the areas of management, accounting, administrative services, marketing, information processing, computing, and basic business information: such as introduction to business, business management, economics, consumer economics/math, business law, retail merchandising, entrepreneurship, software applications, and computer literacy. The degree leads to the GQ teaching certification.

Learn

The program combines teaching strategies with core business/technology content taught in middle or high schools. Students are encouraged to offer innovative practices toward teaching goals and content delivery. Student’s required related work experience in this program is used to enhance and support what is needed to be taught.

Opportunities

BMMT courses are taught in three colleges (Business, Education, and Technology). The Technology courses are either taught online or as hybrid evening classes that meet the needs of busy students. The demand for teachers in this area is increasing with current teacher retirements and increased electives; school systems are having trouble filling open positions.

Students pursuing this degree, or a Post-Bachelor’s teaching endorsement, and has appropriate work experience, can also pursue a Standard CTE Certificate from the Michigan Department of Education. Interested students must complete BMMT 251, BMMT 352, and all State of Michigan requirements. For more information about the Standard CTE Certificate, please contact the BMMT Program Coordinator at [email protected]This certificate is awarded by the State of Michigan, students will not earn an additional degree from Eastern Michigan University.
