The Computer Systems Technology sequence focuses on developing individuals with the knowledge, communication skills, and management ability to interface with computer industry professionals in a variety of industrial and business settings. Why Study Computer Systems Technology? The Computer Systems Technology program of study is an interdisciplinary curriculum that provides a background in iterative project management, computer technology, software development, information management, and other industry-related technologies. The goal of the sequence, using IT technical certifications (like Microsoft and Cisco), is to prepare professionals for the management technical computer systems and their development. Course work emphasizes diverse technical and professional backgrounds in network configuration and security, operating system administration, and project management leadership. Related Skills The computer systems students understand electronics to the level of interacting with electronic engineers and technical support. They understand programming structures and syntax to the level of modifying existing source code; and network systems to the level of LAN/WAN migration and expansion. But most important they understand iterative project management methodologies to integrate all of these cross-functional areas.
