Though the Hertie School is located in the heart of Berlin, all courses at the Hertie School are taught in English. If you are a non-native speaker of English or did not complete your entire undergraduate degree in English, we require you to submit proof of English proficiency (by 1 June 2022).

For the MPP, MIA and MDS, work experience is not required for admission but can boost your application. In additional to full-time work experience, we also consider internships, volunteering, civic engagement and other extracurricular activities for an applicant's personal suitability to join our master's programmes.
For the Executive MPA, you must have at least three years of work experience, excluding internships, to be eligible for admission. The average Executive MPA student has about nine years of work experience.
