Argentine University System
In Argentina, universities use the
Continental education system, which differs greatly with the Anglo-Saxon and the Scandinavian systems. The lack of
equivalence for the different degrees requires an explanation of the
educational system so that there might not be confusions further ahead:
a. Undergraduate courses: They usually last between
two and three years and students receive an associate degree on a specialized
fielb.
Graduate courses:
i.
Licentiate course: Students receive a Licentiate
degree on a specialized subject. The
course is equivalent to an American or European undergraduate degree plus a
Master’s degree in the field according to the equivalences set forth by the
Bologna process.
ii. Licentiate cycle: Students who hold an
undergraduate degree may apply for a Licentiate cycle course in order to obtain
a Licentiate degree on a related field.
c.
Postgraduate courses: These include Master’s degrees (2 years long), specializations (1 year long) and doctorates (4 to 5 years long).
