The Bachelor of Theatre at CQUniversity has a carefully designed and performance-integrated structure that will enrich your learning experience. Choose to major in Drama, Music Theatre or Technical Theatre to suit your area of interest and career goals.

Throughout your studies, you will be involved in a comprehensive conservatoire-style learning environment with expectations of high standards of performance and scholarship. As a CQU theatre student, you can enjoy a rigorous performance schedule in various University, community and professional settings, with mentoring from industry professionals.

You'll learn in our purpose-built performing arts facilities on our CQUniversity Mackay Ooralea campus and be involved in fully staged theatrical productions, either as a performer or as part of the technical/creative team. 

During your course, you will develop advanced skills in problem-solving and creative, self-regulated and critical thinking, as well as enhance your singing and voice, acting, dance and movement skills. In addition, you will explore imagination and performance techniques and styles and cover production-related areas, such as lighting, sound and stage management.

You'll also have the option to tailor your studies to your interests and career aspirations with majors available in:

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:
  • A secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12 or equivalent), or
  • An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) diploma level qualification, or
  • Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at lease 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
Completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland or United States of America, which will meet the English proficiency.
