Designed with Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Sciences graduates in mind, the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology provides a distinct pathway for graduates to become an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA)^. 

Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) are university-qualified professionals and experts in the prescription of exercise for treating and managing health conditions. AEPs support individuals with chronic and complex health conditions, injuries, and disabilities to find the best exercises for their condition, ability, and health goals. 

This course will build on the skills and knowledge gained in your undergraduate degree, enhancing your understanding of professional communication and practice and the management of chronic conditions.

This course currently has Qualifying accreditation by Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA), indicating that it is eligible to be considered for full accreditation. As it is a new course, full accreditation cannot be granted until the course commences. CQUniversity is working with ESSA to gain full accreditation and anticipate this will be granted in 2027. ESSA will grant accreditation to graduates to work as Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP) only from accredited courses.

You are required to provide documentation confirming completion within the last 5 years of:
  • a secondary qualification (Year 11 and 12, or equivalent), or
  • a Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years fulltime with a minimum overall GPA 4.0
These qualifications must be completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or the United States of America to meet the English language proficiency requirements.
