Our course aims to prepare students who may be considering Initial Teacher Education programmes in the future and for those who wish to work in settings and special schools in a variety of employment opportunities such as mentors, teaching assistants, youth work, and special needs teachers. The course will provide you with the opportunity to study for extra accreditation, such as basic Makaton training. The course offers opportunities for gaining other accredited qualifications which should increase your employability. It also allows you work experience within schools and other settings to improve your confidence and your knowledge of SEND.

Please note that we accept a maximum of 8 points from GCE AS Levels and that the Welsh Baccalaureate (core) and A level General Studies will be recognised in our offer. We will also consider a combination of A levels and BTECs/OCRs. Please note that GCSE grade C/4 or above in English (or equivalent) is required. GCSE grade C/4 or above in Maths would also need to be gained by the end of your degree should you wish to progress directly into working with babies and young children.
