Our core  degree in Finance was designed by researchers with industry and regulatory experience to equip you with the skills necessary for a successful career in the financial services industry. You will also be well-placed to pursue careers in economic consultancy, government departments or market regulators, as well as specialist postgraduate studies.

This course provides rigorous training in all areas of finance with a focus on the quantitative skills that are required in every aspect of real-world decision-making. The cutting-edge computer languages Python and R are woven into the teaching of our quantitative modules. The degree is among the first in the UK to contain coverage of new and disruptive forms of finance at the undergraduate level, including cryptocurrencies, FinTech, Big Data analysis, smart beta investing, peer-to-peer lending or high-frequency trading.

You will learn to relate concepts and theories to financial practice through the use of specialist industry newspapers, including the Dow Jones Financial News and data vendors such as Bloomberg and LSEG (formerly Refinitiv and Thomson Reuters Eikon).

Through core units and a choice of optional units, you will gain exposure to the related fields of economics, accounting, management and business law.

For the first 2 years of this course, teaching is delivered on the Clifton Campus where you will gain a thorough understanding of your subject. For the final year of the course, teaching will be delivered at the Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus, opening 2026, where enhanced links with businesses will provide students with real-world knowledge, networks and skills to succeed once you graduate.
