Applicants must present the following:

  • A Bachelor degree or international equivalent in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0, with at least one course in the field of mathematics that must cover calculus and linear algebra; or
  • An ANU Graduate Certificate of Actuarial Statistics with a GPA of 4.5, with at least one course in the field of mathematics from university studies that must cover calculus and linear algebra; or
  • A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5.0/7.0 in a cognate discipline AND a Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0, with at least one course in the field of mathematics from university studies that must cover calculus and linear algebra; or
  • A cognate Graduate Diploma or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 4.5/7.0, with at least one course in the field of mathematics that must cover calculus and linear algebra.

The entry requirement of prior calculus and linear algebra studies reflects that this knowledge is essential to successfully undertake the degree. Students will be assumed to have this background and it will not be revised. Please discuss with the academic contact for the degree prior to accepting your offer if you have any concerns as to the Maths level expected, particularly if your prior study was some years ago.

The GPA for a Bachelor program will be calculated from (i) a completed Bachelor degree using all grades and/or (ii) a completed Bachelor degree using all grades other than those from the last semester (or equivalent study period) of the Bachelor degree. The higher of the two calculations will be used as the basis for admission.
