QS ImpACT MBA Leadership Scholarship: 2026 winner

The United States was always the destination, not for prestige, but for access. The US healthcare system is the most complex, most studied, and most debated in the world. If I want to understand how to fix healthcare systems globally, I need to understand how the most powerful one works, and fails.

Baltimore specifically sits at the intersection of academic medicine, public health challenges, and policy influence. That tension is where I want to work.

I attended QS Discover Istanbul in February 2026 at the InterContinental Hotel in Taksim.

I spoke with representatives from several European universities and institutions from China and Saudi Arabia. What struck me most was the genuine international energy in the room: people from different countries, all at the same crossroads, all trying to build something bigger than where they started. That feeling stayed with me.

I was alone when I read the email. I read it twice, then a third time. Then I sat quietly for a few minutes. I am not someone who cries easily, but my eyes filled.

I lost both of my parents during COVID-19. I come from a small city in Uzbekistan where the path I am walking does not have a map. There is no one to call with this kind of news who truly understands what it took to get here. So I sat with it alone, and I felt, for the first time in a long time, that the world had seen me.

Beyond the financial relief, it gives me something harder to quantify: legitimacy. Walking into Hopkins knowing that a global organisation independently evaluated my leadership and chose me, that changes how I carry myself.

It also creates responsibility. I cannot just attend classes and recruit. I have to show up as someone who has already been recognised, which means I have to earn that recognition every day.

The collaborations and debate. I want to learn from other people. Hopkins brings together physicians, engineers, policy makers, and business strategists in the same rooms. I am most excited for the moments when someone challenges my assumptions, when a finance student tells me I am wrong about how healthcare systems work, or when a public health researcher reframes a problem I thought I understood. That friction is where real thinking happens.

My path is clear in direction, flexible in detail. I want to move into healthcare management, helping health systems, governments, and organisations build structures that work under pressure.

The long-term goal is to be in the rooms where decisions are made about how healthcare is delivered in low-resource and crisis environments. I have seen what happens when those systems fail. I do not want to just study it, I want to fix it.

Write the essay you are afraid to write. The one that requires you to admit something real, a failure, a fear, a loss, a moment of doubt. Every applicant can list achievements. Very few are willing to be honest about what those achievements cost them.Scholarship committees are made of human beings. They respond to truth.

Also: do not self-select out. I almost did not submit my QS application because I thought my ImpACT Report was not strong enough. I submitted anyway. That decision changed everything.
