Overview:

In light of the successive global changes at the cognitive and technological levels, as well as the health and economic crises that global societies are going through, and the World Health Organization’s emphasis on the importance of mental health as a priority for all individuals in society, Ajman University introduced the Psychology Program under the Department of Psychology in 2018 as one of the important specializations that play a major role in providing psychological support to individuals in societies in a way that qualifies them to deal with various life pressures. Therefore, the existence of this program is a great necessity as it is a response to societal needs and a contribution to the process of sustainable development, with the aim of working to create a citizen who enjoys effective ability and psychological efficiency by supporting him with extensive experience and developing various skills that contribute greatly to developing his performance, and acquiring the ability to deal with psychological and societal problems in a positive way that does not affect his social role.

The Psychology program was designed according to the latest international standards and specifications, and is taught by a number of competent faculty members of different nationalities, who hold degrees from various international universities. The program’s teaching is based on the latest global strategies and methods. The program also includes a large group of specialized and modern courses in the field of psychology and mental health. The program’s practical training includes 300 training hours in various institutions (hospitals, schools, psychological counseling centers, etc.), in addition to various psychological laboratories, including: 1) The Educational Psychology Laboratory, in which experiments are conducted on learning, memory, and cognition skills, etc. 2) The Psychological Testing Laboratory, which includes a large group of: mental ability tests, personality tests, analytical tests, and tests to detect psychological disorders. 3) The Psychological Statistics Laboratory: In it, the student is trained to use advanced statistical programs. This diversity in theoretical and practical courses and practical training contributes to refining the student’s skills in a way that keeps pace with the requirements of the modern era so that he is able to compete In the labor market, which qualifies him to obtain a future job. In addition, the department has established a Quality of Life Center that cares for the mental health of university students in general and the department in particular, which constitutes a practical difference in the services provided by the department at the university.
