The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program at the American Institute of Applied Sciences Institute in Switzerland (AUS) provides students with opportunities to build the necessary skills for the future with a deep understanding of business and technological trends on a global scale and with hands-on experience via close links to the industry.  At this first level of study, AUS students earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree that qualifies them for a profession in business management and the opportunity to continue their studies further and earn a Master of Science in International Business Administration degree.

 

At AUS, we focus on integrating traditional business knowledge with practical decision-making, problem-solving, creativity, and strategic thinking while engaging in real-world projects. We create a learning environment that emphasizes collaboration and team building alongside academic work. We recognize that business leaders today must master the hard skills needed to make data-driven decisions and the soft skills necessary to make them better collaborators. The curriculum takes the approach of the full development of the individual, placing emphasis on personal as well as professional growth. It prepares students for both career and graduate studies. 

 

All courses are taught in English by leading business visionaries in small dynamic cohorts. Our professors have experience in successful business ventures, providing our students with real-life lessons learned and best practices. This background allows our professors to share their challenges and successes with the students, giving them a front-line education focused on experiential and student-centered learning. 

 

Our faculty-student ratio is roughly 1-7, facilitating a deeper working relationship between students and professors coupled with feedback and coaching. Courses integrate experiential learning activities, such as simulations, case studies, individual and group presentations, and projects.

Admission Requirements

Academic eligibility requirements for admissions for Bachelor’s degrees

 

  1. A Swiss Maturity Certificate (Maturität, Matura) or, A Swiss Professional Maturity Certificate (Maturité professionnelle) with “Passerelle” or, A Swiss Specialized Maturity Certificate (Maturité spécialisée) recognized throughout Switzerland with “Passerelle” or, in the case of foreign candidates, an upper secondary school-leaving certificate considered equivalent;

-        Candidates who have completed a Swiss Professional or Specialized Maturity need to undergo a complementary examination in order to be eligible for admission into the Bachelor program. Candidates in this situation are kindly invited to refer to the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), which is the institution responsible for the examination;

AUS welcomes and encourages applications from International Baccalaureate (IB) graduates; Diploma Programme (DP), Diploma Programme Courses, and Career-Related Programme (CP) are considered on a case-by-case basis by our Admissions Committee.

The American Institute of Applied Sciences in Switzerland is in the French-speaking region of Switzerland, in La Tour-de-Peilz, in Canton of Vaud. AUS campus is approximately one hour from Geneva and 25 minutes from Lausanne by train. AUS offers the ideal environment for obtaining your business degree, nestled in the Swiss Riviera. La Tour-de-Peilz is located between the lakeside towns of Vevey, home of the world-renowned Nestlé, and Montreux, known for its famous Jazz Festival. The region has convenient rail and air connections to all the major European cities, and it is also an excellent location for exploring the splendor of the Swiss Alps.
AUS aims to offer an admissions process that is fair, transparent and provides equal opportunity to applicants. Applicants are admitted on the basis of their individual merits, abilities, and aptitudes while meeting established minimum eligibility criteria. However, AUS recognizes and acknowledges that not all applicants have equal opportunity to demonstrate their full academic potential and will take into consideration the contexts and circumstances that surround individual applications. Assessing applicants’ backgrounds is deemed crucial in understanding aptitude differences and as such to balance inclusivity and selectivity principles without seeing diversity as a substitute for equality or considered at the expense of it. Applicants can complete the application form online or download and fill out the PDF form and email it to our admissions office at [email protected]. The Office of Admissions only evaluates completed applications that include all the required documents.
The credit transfer system at AUS is based on the principle of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), defined as a process through which previously assessed and certificated learning is considered and, as appropriate, recognized for academic purposes. It can enable a student to transfer credit gained within one program of study to another program of study at the same time or at a different institution. Credit can be used from a previously uncompleted or completed award. Transfer credits are accepted from recognized colleges and universities for those courses that are comparable to those delivered at AUS. The assessment of RPL for purposes of credit transfer within a program focuses on assessing the comparability of the outcomes of learning to those of the course level rather than seeking an exact match. Upon being presented with an Offer Letter from AUS, a student will also be communicated any results of credit transfer assessments, including the accepted and non-accepted credits.
