We teach introductory and advanced language courses where students learn everything they need to know in order to be able to speak, understand, read, and write French. We have just added two new conversation courses catered to help students reinforce their ability to use their communication skills in practical situations. We have a wide range of literature courses where students can learn about 17th to 21st Century French and Francophone novels, plays, poems, essays, blogs, zines and journals. Linguistics is the study of language and languages. If you are learning a second or third language, you will benefit from a linguistics course. The Languages Department provides an introductory level Linguistics course as well as a course developed for Native Language teachers.
