    The Central Academy of Fine Arts, located in China’s capital, Beijing, is an academy where flourishing culture, history and art are accompanied by the best art resources in the world. CAFA currently serves over 5000 full-time students, including more than 200 international students from 40 different countries.

    The school covers a teaching and research area of around 330,000 square meters and is committed to building a discipline structure of modern education for fine arts where disciplines such as plastic arts, design, architecture, and humanities support and influence each other. CAFA strives to  take the lead  in building an art education system with Chinese characteristics in the new century,  aiming for  high praise  from  the international art education community for its  teaching quality and excellent research results .  


    The  CAFA campus  features :  


    • Four distinct campuses
    • Classrooms, professional experiment workshops (laboratories), libraries, art galleries, gyms and multimedia classrooms . 
    • Professional experiment workshops (laboratories) equipped with leading technologies . 
    • One of the most advanced libraries for fine arts in China with nearly 400,000 books .  

    Museum housing precious collections, including more than 2,000 scroll paintings by artists since the Ming and Qing Dynasties.  

    CAFA offers first-class teachers and professional teaching facilities, adhering to the school motto of "exhaustiveness and greatness". It’s cultivated a large number of well-known artists at home and abroad, with a broad international vision and solid basic teaching. 

     

    Central Academy of Fine Arts has three canteens and a special dormitory for international students. Rooms come as doubles or singles, and there are three canteens and cafeterias on campus. Semesters run September to February (first term), March to April (second term) and May to June (third term). 


     

    Undergraduates can apply to CAFA from March to April each year. Candidates must submit the application materials, and take the entrance exam in May. The specific rules are subject to the enrollment guide published on the college’s official website that year. 


    Master’s candidates can apply in November each year by submitting the application materials and then taking the entrance exam in December. The specific rules are subject to the enrollment guide published on the college's official website that year. 


    PhD students can apply to study in March every year, first submitting the application materials and then taking an entrance exam in April. Enrollment is based on specific rules published on the college's official website that year. 


    The Central Academy of Fine Arts accepts applicants who hold Chinese government scholarships. Applicants learn about scholarship information through the Study in China Network http://www.campuschina.org/ and, after confirming the selected school and major, contact the Chinese embassy/consulate or other accepting agency to learn about specific operations and procedures. Applicants then submit the application materials on the CSC Online Application Information Platform for Studying in China at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn where the application period is from January to April annually.
