The Master of Professional Psychology is a pathway for those wanting to become a registered Psychologist. Students studying the Master of Professional Psychology will have an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in the core competencies required to practise as a general psychologist. Two of the pathways towards registration to practise as a general psychologist include:

  • The 4+2 pathway: Four years of study and two years of supervised professional practice (applications will not be received by the Psychology Board of Australia after 30 June 2022 for this pathway
  • The 5+1 pathway: Five years of study and a Master of Professional Psychology and one year of supervised professional practice.
This course follows the 5-1 pathway.

Applicants must have completed an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC)-accredited sequence in Psychology within the last 10 years (e. g., four-year, or three-year plus a fourth year), and be eligible for registration with the Psychology Board of Australia as a provisional psychologist. Applicants who completed their Psychology training outside of Australia are required to provide evidence of equivalency as determined by the Australian Psychological Society.
