To apply for this course, you must have:

  • a lower second class honours degree or above in any subject.
  • an awareness of health or health-related care issues.
  • GSCE’s (or accepted equivalent) in Mathematics and English Language with a minimum of a grade 4 pass (C or above).
You will be required to have occupational health and enhanced disclosure and barring service clearance. Academic and character references may be requested.

Successful applicants will be required to complete a Recognition of Prior Theory Learning (RPL) claim in order to obtain a place on the course. In addition it is recommended that a Recognition of Prior Practice Learning (RPL) claim is also made prior to entry to the programme otherwise applicants will be required to undertake a further 500 practice hours at the end of the two year programme.

As well as meeting the stated academic entry requirements, applicants will be required to attend an interview as part of the selection process, to ensure that your values match those of the NHS Constitution.

English requirements:

GCSE English Language grade C or IELTS score 7 with 7 in each component is required.

Applicants educated outside of an English speaking country, without GCSEs are required to hold:

  • TOEFL iBT: 94 overall with at least 27 in Writing, 24 in reading and Listening and 23 in Speaking sections.

City, University of London offers a wide range of taught and research postgraduate degrees, with every member of City’s postgraduate community benefiting from outstanding academic staff, comprehensive student support and tailored careers guidance.

Courses cover the following academic areas: Business, Arts, Social Sciences, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Health Sciences and Law. Each of City’s academic Schools has a particular strength, for example the School of Health and Psychological Sciences is leading research in ophthalmology.

  • City is 39th in the UK out of 129 universities according to the Times Higher Education rankings, an increase of 12 places since REF 2014.

In keeping with City’s close links with business and the professions, many of City’s postgraduate degrees are offered on a part-time and flexible basis, allowing students to manage their study around employment commitments.
