The BA (Hons) Counselling Studies is a blended study programme, taught part time over two years. Most lectures are taught online though Teams, one day a week, currently Wednesdays, with either the morning or afternoon in lectures, with the remaining part of the day set aside for self-study and/or tutorials. There will also be occasional attendance at college (to be arranged with the student cohort). The second year of study focuses on training to become a professional Counselling Supervisor. You will need to evidence 24 months of continuous client work, with a minimum of 4 clients a week on a log of practice of your choice and signed off by a qualified supervisor at regular intervals, in order to pass the BA. This means, for those students who wish to progress directly from the Level 5 Diploma, they must be in continuous counselling practice from completing their course in June, to the end of the BA Counselling Studies programme, to qualify as a Counselling Supervisor, the award of which, requires 2 years post qualifying work experience from an HE Level 5 BACP accredited professional counselling training course or equivalent counselling foundation degree accredited by the BACP.
Please note that there is no automatic progression route between our courses. Each qualification requires a rigorous assessment process including an interview, and due to limited places, you may be placed on a waiting list or may not be successful on your first application.
