Engineers apply theoretical, scientific knowledge to research, invent and build devices and systems whereas engineering technologists implement engineering and technology solutions. In Pakistan, most of the industry is related to manufacturing and services that require skilled engineering technologists for the smooth operation and timely maintenance of equipment. Unfortunately, most of the emphasis of our education sector has remained on producing engineers, who are more skilled to do research and development, while engineering technology programs have remained largely ignored thus retarding industrial growth. The department of engineering technology in FUI has been established with the vision to produce Engineering Technologists that have sufficient hands on training who could conveniently align themselves with industry, government or entrepreneurial endeavors to demonstrate professional advancement hence becoming an asset for the nation. The multidisciplinary Engineering Technology skills when integrated with human Biology will surely bring improvement in health systems and quality of our lives.
