The Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering program is a four-year undergraduate degree structured in accordance with the guidelines of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The curriculum follows an Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework to ensure that graduates achieve defined Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), professional competencies, and ethical standards required for engineering practice at national and international levels. The program provides a strong foundation in basic sciences, mathematics, and engineering fundamentals during the initial years. Courses such as Applied Physics & Electro-Mechanical Fundamentals, Applied Mathematics, Advanced Calculus, Quantitative Reasoning, and Numerical Analysis develop analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Engineering fundamentals are strengthened through Engineering Mechanics, Mechanics of Solids, and Fluid Mechanics, enabling students to understand force systems, material behavior, and fluid flow principles essential for civil engineering analysis and design. Core Civil engineering knowledge is developed through Structural Analysis, Soil Mechanics, Engineering Hydrology, and Environmental Engineering. These courses ensure students acquire the ability to analyze structural systems, assess geotechnical conditions, evaluate water resources, and design environmentally sustainable solutions. Reinforced Concrete Design, Steel Structures, and Foundation Engineering equip students with competency in structural design in compliance with recognized codes and standards. Surveying and geospatial competencies are established through Engineering Surveying, Advanced Surveying, Survey Camp, and Geo Informatics, enabling students to conduct field measurements, mapping, and modern spatial data analysis. Transportation engineering subjects, including Highway & Traffic Engineering and Pavement Analysis & Design, provide knowledge of road design, traffic flow analysis, and infrastructure planning. Water resource and hydraulic engineering subjects such as Hydraulics Engineering, Advanced Fluid Mechanics, and Irrigation Engineering prepare students to manage and design sustainable water systems. Construction and professional practice components are integrated through Construction Engineering, Project Management, Quantity & Cost Estimation, and Engineering Law. These courses develop understanding of project planning, cost control, contract administration, and legal responsibilities in engineering practice. Occupational Health & Safety ensures awareness of safe engineering practices in compliance with regulatory standards. The program emphasizes modern engineering tools and computational competence through Applications of ICT, Computer Programming, and Modelling & Simulation. Students gain proficiency in data analysis, engineering software, and digital tools essential for contemporary civil engineering projects. Communication skills and ethical awareness are enhanced through Functional English, Expository Writing, and civic-oriented subjects including Pakistan Studies, Islamic Studies, Civics and Community Engagement, and Community Service. These courses align with PEC’s requirements for professional ethics, teamwork, leadership, and social responsibility. A significant feature of the program is the Final Year Design Project (FYDP I & II), which serves as a capstone experience. Students integrate knowledge from structural, geotechnical, transportation, environmental, and water resources engineering to address real-world engineering problems. The project emphasizes design methodology, sustainability considerations, teamwork, project management, and professional reporting in accordance with OBE assessment criteria. The curriculum incorporates laboratory work, field training, survey camp, and project-based learning to ensure attainment of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective learning domains. Continuous assessment methods, including quizzes, assignments, laboratory evaluations, midterm and final examinations, and project presentations, are aligned with defined Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) mapped to Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs). Upon completion of the program, graduates are expected to: Apply engineering knowledge to complex civil engineering problems. Design safe, sustainable, and cost-effective infrastructure systems. Conduct investigations and interpret data effectively. Utilize modern engineering tools and techniques. Demonstrate ethical responsibility and professional competence. Function effectively as individuals and team members in multidisciplinary environments. The program ensures that graduates meet PEC accreditation standards and are prepared for professional engineering registration, higher studies, research, and leadership roles in the civil engineering industry.
