Successful organisations depend upon effective decision makers who are equipped with core skills in business, finance and management. Underpinned by the latest research and commercial best practice, this MSc will prepare you with the tools for success within the ever-changing world of today's business environment. This programme combines academic theory with the opportunity to undertake a practical Industry Experience Project and build critical assets for your CV.

Our MSc in Finance and Management is ideal if you have a non-business undergraduate degree and are looking to transition into a financial management career. Alternatively, if you have a background in management or finance, this programme is an excellent way to expand your skills, deepen your understanding of the subject, and gain a recognised postgraduate qualification.

Develop a sought-after mix of finance and management expertise

By studying this degree, you will develop a broad understanding of business, examining a range of areas including finance, marketing, human resources (HR), accounting and strategy. You will extend your financial knowledge and skills through focused accounting and finance modules, while enjoying the chance to dive deeper into your areas of interest with subjects such as sustainable finance, and financial statements analysis and valuations.

You will explore how organisations operate and look at the influences of the external environment, taking account of economic, environmental, ethical, legal, political, sociological and technological factors, and their effects at local, national and international levels. You will also consider how organisations are managed and financially controlled, and learn how markets operate for different financial products.

Graduate ready to put your skills into action

The core content of this programme provides a broad knowledge of finance and management, along with a deeper understanding of your chosen specialisms. Through your studies you will gain the practical skills needed to address complex financial management issues, improve practice, and meet the challenges of today’s fast-paced business world. This combination of theory and practice helps our graduates to be fully prepared to put their knowledge and skills into action in the professional environment. There are also opportunities to build additional CV assets or micro-credentials, to help you stand out in the job market.

Graduates of this programme will be well prepared for a broad range of careers in finance or management. These can include more specialist roles such as analyst, accountant, consultant or auditor, but can also extend to a wide variety of general management roles in organisations of all sizes across numerous sectors.

Gain practical experience through the Industry Experience Project

A key component of the MSc Finance and Management is the opportunity to participate in an Industry Experience Project. This allows our students to apply theoretical and research led knowledge from their programme to real-world challenges, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Additionally, Industry Experience Projects offer enhanced employability prospects by demonstrating practical expertise and workplace relevant experience to potential employers. Each project is structured to maximise networking opportunities and build confidence, helping our graduates to make purposeful progress towards achieving their career goals.
