With campuses and sites reaching across Greece, Metropolitan has a strong regional presence. Its locations serve the institution’s 13,000-plus students, as well as faculty and staff.

Metropolitan campus facilities support the institution's growing need for classrooms, support spaces, and highly specialized instructional labs designed for rigorous hands-on learning. The buildings are designed to promote collaboration and engagement among students and faculty.

On each campus, students and faculty have access to all the university's resources, while the duplication of programs and support services is minimized through the use of technology with free WiFi connection available at most campus public areas. All campuses are also accessible to students with special needs.

Our libraries and learning centres facilitate traditional borrowing, tech lending, multimedia tools, research help, tutoring and learning strategy services to meet students’ specific educational needs. A modern complex of libraries, lecture theatres, teaching rooms, and recreation facilities inspire students to think critically and work creatively and enjoy a pleasant student life.

Student life

Metropolitan is a warm, welcoming and vibrant community that offers students the opportunity to study, learn, live, eat and connect on campus, surrounded by cutting-edge academic spaces and historic quads in different regions of Greece. Metropolitan students experience a full suite of supports and services, from accessible learning and career advancement to community involvement and counselling. Students take advantage of sports facilities, open recreation, fitness classes, and field trips in an immersive environment, which facilitates new friendships, fosters learning, and promotes inclusivity.

Cost of Living

Greece is one of the most affordable countries in Europe.

1 - Student living costs

Greece is one of the most affordable European destinations for international students. Most people should live comfortably on a budget of 500–800 EUR per month. Your lifestyle and choices will decide if this budget goes up or down. Greece is part of the European Union, and its national currency is the euro (EUR).

2 - Student accommodation costs

Renting a private apartment or flat is an affordable accommodation type for most foreign students. Prices vary based on the proximity to the city centre, the number of rooms, and so on. But you can always share a flat with other students to lower the overall costs.

  • one-bedroom apartment in the city centre: 300–500 EUR/month
  • one-bedroom apartment outside the city centre: 250–450 EUR/month
  • three-bedroom apartment in the city centre: 500–800 EUR/month
  • three-bedroom apartment outside the city centre: 450–700 EUR/month

Don’t forget to take into account monthly utilities, which can add another 80–140 EUR to your expenses.

3 - Food costs

Most students will end up spending around 200 EUR per month on food and groceries. While shopping at local supermarkets, look for discounts or bundle offers.

4 - Transportation costs

A regular monthly pass for public transport is 30 EUR, but students benefit from a discount and only pay 15 EUR. For a single trip, the ticket is around 1.40 EUR. You can also take a taxi; in this case, you’ll pay 3.50 EUR for the starting fee and then 1 EUR per km.

5 - Extra costs

  • entertainment (cinema, concerts, theatre): 40–80 EUR/month
  • student visa fee (only needed by non-EU/EEA students): 90 EUR
  • private medical insurance (only needed by non-EU/EEA students): it depends on your personal insurance plan, the medical services covered, and so on
