Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT) is a leading Russian university in STEM education and research. It is ranked among the best 100 universities for Natural Sciences by both Quacquarelli Symonds and Times Higher Education. The success of MIPT education has been achieved to a large extent due to a set of principles known as the Phystech System. Those principles were formulated by MIPT founding fathers - the Nobel laureates Pyotr Kapitsa, Lev Landau, and Nikolay Semenov. The two basic tenets are attracting the best talent and engaging students in advanced research supervised by outstanding scientists at partner organizations that currently encompass over 100 institutions of the Russian Academy of Sciences and leading corporate research and development centers. MIPT strategy includes conducting and developing high-quality research in cutting-edge fields such as quantum and electronic technologies, nanophotonics and plasmonics, biotechnology, applied mathematics, space research, anti-aging science, and many more. Since 2019 MIPT is a member of one of three Russian consortiums for genomic research –  Kurchatov Genomic Center. This year, for the first time, MIPT has been included in the University Impact Rankings published by Times Higher Education (THE). MIPT made its first appearance in seven SDGs and entered Top 1-100 position in two of them: No Poverty category and Affordable and Clean Energy category.
