Today the MEPhI is one of the leading research universities with well–established academic schooling in the Russian Federation which trains post-graduates, holders of Magister’s degree, Bachelor’s degree as well as Specialists in the most significant areas of fundamental and applied science and modern technologies both for the Russian Federation and foreign countries. On the whole the MEPhI provides training in a vast variety of areas: Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Technologies, Engineering & IT, Life Sciences, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences with Nuclear Physics, Arts & Humanities being the key specialization of the University.
The Strategic Academic Units (StrAU) have collaborate with various industrial and academic partners, including: Rosatom, CERN, Rostech, Kurchatov Institute, the IAEA, etc. Many of the StrAUs also energize megaprojects of our time, including the ITER fusion reactor, currently under construction in France, as well as ALICE and ATLAS high-energy physics experiments at CERN in Switzerland.
