Vita-Salute San Raffaele is a vibrant and acclaimed University in Milan which forms an integral part of the Research Institute and Hospital that bare the same name, offering many opportunities to students and teachers alike. The San Raffaele Hospital was already a medical teaching centre for the University of Milan from 1973 to 1996 and on the 26th of March 1996, it was itself granted the status of University opening with a Degree Course in Psychology. In 1998 the Degree Courses in Medicine was inaugurated and followed by the opening of the Facuty of Philosophy in 2001.

The mission of Vita-Salute San Raffaele University is to answer to the question Quid est homo? (What is Man?) strongly believing that the human kind is biologically, psychologically and spiritually unique, hence the creation of the three faculties.The teaching and practice of humanistic medicine is central to San Raffaele’s mission. It is recognized as provider of exceptional primary care and attracts patients, faculty and students from all over the world.

Many researchers have been trained at the San Raffaele/DIBIT laboratories which offer also PhD programmes as well as Master Courses in addition to the postgraduate specialization schools already present at Vita-Salute San Raffaele.
