92% of Bedfordshire students who graduated last year have secured employment or further study (Destination of Leaver’s Higher Education (DLHE) survey). This focus on employability is supported by the Careers and Employability Service that is available to access at the Luton and Bedford campuses. The university also runs an internship scheme giving work experience opportunities to all its students, whether from the UK, EU or international. All students are trained prior to the internships to gain new skills and be ready for the workplace.
Results published from the 2018 National Student Survey (NSS) in July 2018 demonstrate that 83% of final year students at Bedfordshire are satisfied with their studies. This also shows that the University outperformed its competitors and placed it in the top half of universities measured by student satisfaction. The results also position the University in the top 25 for most improved overall satisfaction over a three and five year period. The University is also Top 10 for most improved in teaching over the last five years. Many of the courses scored 100% in overall satisfaction including Forensic Science, Psychology, Performing Arts, while others including Biological Science, Football Studies, Law, Adult and Mental Health Nursing scored over 90%.
· £200 million has also been invested in outstandingstudent facilities in recent years. For example, the £46 million new librarywas opened in Luton in the summer 2016, offering state-of-the-art learningfacilities for all students. Furthermore, a brand new Science, Technology,Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) building costing £40 million is scheduled toopen in September 2019. The STEM building is part of the University’s widerobjective to increase the number of highly skilled graduates in Luton,Bedfordshire and beyond. The building will also support the creation of newcourses such as Pharmacy, Nutrition, Automotive and Mechanical Engineering,Computer Science and Technology and Physiotherapy.
