As the second-oldest business school in the United States, the Haas School of Business at the University of California Berkeley is one of the world's leading producers of new ideas and knowledge in all areas of business — which includes the distinction of having two of its faculty members receive the Nobel Prize in Economics over the past 20 years. The school offers outstanding management education to about 2,200 undergraduate and graduate students each year who come from around the world to study in one of its six degree-granting programs. Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley has a financial engineering degree, which fully prepares students with both the knowledge and skills required for a career in the finance industry. The school has been listed in the 2018 edition of the QS Business Master’s Ranking.
The program is a STEM-designated degree, and is one year in duration. There is the opportunity to take part in the Morgan Stanley Applied Finance Project. Courses include investments and derivatives, financial innovation in a global marketplace, and behavioral finance. Students have a high percentage rate for both internship placements, and employment post-graduation, with 100 percent placed for internships in 2016, and 94 percent offered employment.
