About University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam

University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) is a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented, multi-campus public institution whose diverse curricular offerings provide extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary study and collaboration with leading researchers in highly advanced learning environments.

Established in 1976, UEH has built a solid reputation as a leading teaching and research higher education institution in the fields of Business, Economics, Law, Government, Mathematics, Technology and Design, affirming its position as one of 19 key national public universities in Vietnam,. In 2014, under the government’s pilot project on restructuring university governance, UEH was granted full autonomy and has been operating independently ever since. UEH nurtures a distinctive, high-impact research culture, committed to elevating the region’s culture, economy, and educational development. The university encourages current and future generations to embrace the value of liberal education, academic freedom and autonomy while practicing multidisciplinary education and promoting internationalization. We take the learner-centric approach and help people to become thoughtful, effective and compassionate global leaders. Following the university’s internationalization strategies in recent years, UEH continues and strives to maintain its position as a top research-oriented university in Southeast Asia.

Presently, UEH has 13 campuses across Ho Chi Minh City, the most vibrant business hub in Vietnam. With nearly 900 academic and admin staff, the university is home to 3 member colleges (College of Business; College of Economics, Law, and Government, and College of Technology and Design), comprising a total of 16 schools and 10 research institutes with different disciplines. The university’s smart library also carries nearly 400,000 economic books, including 600 Harvard eBooks, and several major international journal databases. UEH’s own journal, the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES), is an international peer-reviewed quarterly journal published under the platinum OA agreement with Emerald and was recently recognized in Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) under Web of Science, as well as being indexed in SCOPUS as the first Vietnamese journal in Social Sciences, Humanities, Business and Management.

With more than 30,000 students, both part-time and full-time, the university has designed and offers a variety of degrees and programs, across all academic levels. All programs at UEH are focused on developing competencies and skills for students, thereby strengthening their employability after graduation. As of 2022, the university records a 98% success rate for students who graduated with a BA to be employed from 6 months to a year after graduation. Additionally, the university has built an extensive network of more than 250,000 alumni around Vietnam and the world, all of whom have and are holding various important positions in prominent businesses and government bodies.

Over the years, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has accumulated countless accolades from various reputable organizations across the world for its outstanding performance in teaching, researching, and social contribution. Most notably, UEH has risen in the ranks to be placed in the Top 551+ Best Universities in Asia by QS World University Rankings 2022. U-Multirank recognized UEH in the Top 1 Best University in Vietnam in 2022, in Teaching, Learning, Research, Knowledge Transfer, International Orientation, and Regional Engagement. UEH has had three programs accredited and certified under AUN-QA, including 1 program in 2013, 2 programs in 2016, and 4 others in 2019. The university also received recognition from FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation) for 4 other programs in 2017.

UEH currently hosts more than 100 global partnerships that have been strengthened over the years. We have consolidated many of these relationships and developed a long list for strategic conversion. Our partners have collaborated in the dissemination of UEH’s research, education, and practice throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and the USA. Additionally, UEH has 35 international joint and collaboration programs, and an internationalized curriculum since 2012. The university was also approved to conduct full English-instructed programs over 7 years ago, including a Ph.D. Program in 2015 and 5 programs in International Business, Management, Banking, Finance & Accounting in 2016. In addition, UEH continually makes a conscious effort to publish in international peer-reviewed journals, with our numbers rising consistently over the years.
