The Health Communication Online Master of Science provides techniques for developing effective health communication strategies. Recognizing that many health problems could be avoided if people were more informed, HCOM teaches how to change unhealthy behavior using strategic communication. The program is asynchronous and offered 100% online, providing a comprehensive understanding of health communication and also allows students to specialize in areas most relevant to their careers. These specializations include interpersonal, family, organizational, socially mediated and cultural communication. These specializations appeal to workers in medicine, nursing, pharmaceuticals, public health, healthcare administration and patient advocacy. HCOM is designed to accommodate the lifestyle of working professionals, enabling students to advance their expertise without sacrificing work or home life. Although the majority of HCOM students balance class with work, HCOM still boasts a 95% graduation rate.
