WHU awards the academic degree of Doctor of Business and Economics (Dr. rer. pol.) – the German equivalent to a Ph.D. – based on the submission of a scientific paper (dissertation) and its presentation (disputation). Admission Requirements

The admission requirements for the Doctoral Program include a Master’s degree or equivalent, with an above-average overall grade. Please find them here: www.whu.edu/en/programs/doctoral-program/admission/ Enrollment is also conditional on a professor of our WHU faculty supporting the doctoral project. Please contact the relevant Chair regarding your research project, or apply for position as a research assistant if advertised. As soon as you have received written confirmation of support from the chair office, you should submit your application for enrollment, together with the following documents, to the Doctoral Program Office: the professor’s declaration of acceptance an up-to-date resumé a single copy of your Abitur certificate (or equivalent, e.g. high-school diploma) certified true copies of your university qualifications a passport photograph in electronic format Doctoral candidates can enroll in the Doctoral Program either as internal or external students. Internal doctoral students are those who are also employed at WHU as a research assistant for at least three-eighths of a full-time position. External doctoral students are students not employed at WHU, or who are employed as a research assistant for less than three-eighths of a full-time position.
