Yaroslavl State University (Demidov University) is the oldest university in Russia: in 2003 it celebrated the 200th anniversary of its founding in 1803 by Emperor Alexander I and Pavel Demidov, a generous patron who provided the foundation and the endowment for the University. Today Demidov University is a public flagship university with a classical education curriculum in Yaroslavl Oblast and proves itself to be among the best research universities in the Upper Volga region. It is an outstanding centre of teaching and research excellence with a global orientation and marvellous academic, research, design, analytic, social and cultural opportunities. With a thriving community of more than 7,000 students, our University prides itself to offer 70 courses.
