Undergraduate degree courses (corsi di laurea) are intended to provide students with a broad understanding of research methods and an overview of the chosen subject, as well as the requisite professional skills. Undergraduate degree courses last 3 years. The degree of Laurea (undergraduate degree, or first cycle level, as defined in the Bologna Declaration) is awarded to students who have earned 180 ECTS credits. With a Laurea degree, graduates can enter the general labour market, the civil service, regulated professions, or they can proceed to study for a Master's degree programs or a first-level Professional degree.
A few degree programs (Primary teacher education and Law degrees) combine the two and last 5 years, one single cycle, and are known as Corsi di laurea magistrale a ciclo unico (Single cycle master’s programs).
To ensure our training programs address the requirements of a dynamic world with constantly changing priorities, especially from a vocational perspective, LUMSA offers students a variety of international opportunities to enhance their academic careers like degree programs taught in English and double degree programs in partnership with international universities.

Corsi di laurea magistrale (Master's degree programs) are aimed at providing graduates with an advanced level of education leading to specialisation in particular areas. The entry requirement is an Italian degree of Laurea (first cycle level) or an equivalent foreign qualification. Admission is subject to specific course requirements as determined by the university offering the program. The workload is 120 ECTS credits, the duration of the course is 2 years. The Laurea magistrale (second cycle level of the Bologna Process) is awarded to those students who, having successfully completed their course, have also defended a dissertation in their chosen subject. All Master's degree programs offer advantageous entry to the general labour market, the civil service, regulated professions; they also allow access to doctoral degree programs, i.e. degree courses of the third cycle.
