You’ll study your chosen language to degree level, as well as choosing from a range of specialist modules. You’ll explore the theory and technique of translating, and questions of style and register in a range of specialised areas, media and genres. These will include multilingual publications, multilingual websites, packaging, digital and online texts, film subtitles, and theatre translation. You’ll have the chance to gain first-hand professional translating experience through a work experience module.During your year abroad you’ll deepen your experience of the language and culture by studying at a local university, taking up a teaching assistantship or going on a suitable work placement. Students of Japanese will study at a partner university in Japan.
