The Bachelor of Music degree is designed to prepare the student for a professional career in performance. The student may pursue one of nine concentrations. Students may be admitted to this program only with the approval of the music faculty, usually determined by a special audition. The requirements for each of the nine bachelor of music degree programs include non-music courses, core music courses and concentration courses. Piano Concentration – 18 additional hours for a degree total of 128. a. Performing groups (4 hours) Four semesters chosen from: MUS 3140 MUS 3160 MUS 3180 MUS 3020 (Note: MUS 3020 may only fulfill the requirement for one semester.) Two semesters of MUS 3050:041 or 3050:043. Eight semesters of MUS 3050:044. The distribution of MUS 3050 Ensembles indicated here is flexible and may be adjusted to individual needs with the approval of the applied music teacher. The minimum requirement is an accumulation of 14 hours of ensemble credits, but only four hours may be counted toward degree. b. MUS 2590, 3580, 3590 and 4450 (9 hours) c. Music electives chosen from upper level academic music courses (5 hours)

Students who have taken post-secondary (college) courses while enrolled in high school are considered first-time freshmen. Students need a minimum 2.5 GPA average.
