With Spanish being the official language in 21 countries and a crucial language in international organizations like the United Nations and the European Union, the program emphasizes fluency and communication skills essential in today’s interconnected society. Students benefit from Chicago’s diverse Latin American communities, engaging in cultural immersion through festivals, neighborhoods, and cultural institutions. Opportunities for linguistic and cultural enrichment are further enhanced through Study Abroad programs in Argentina, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Puerto Rico, and Spain. For those interested in teaching, the program collaborates with the College of Education to offer teaching degrees for middle and high school levels.
