The notions of “greatness” and “creation” are the two founding blocks in designing the series of courses in Doctor of Fine Arts. It implies that significant artworks can be made in the future only on the premise of repeatedly re-thinking what it means to be truly great and to responsibly create.
Upon completion of the programme, graduates will be able to:
- Critically appraise relevant scholarly literature, including conceptual, theoretical, and methodological characteristics of arts scholarship.
- Write analytical, critical, and publishable academic essays for an arts readership.
- Create a professional portfolio of innovative and original artistic works that are solidly grounded in solid theoretical bases and spiritual quality.

Admission Requirements
- All the applicants for the DFA programme must possess both Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree, where one of their bachelor’s or master’s degrees is required to be a Fine Art degree. Applicants with interdisciplinary backgrounds are welcome to apply.
- Accelerated Entry (for UM Master Students): Have been registered in a Master’s Programme at the University of Macau for at least one year. Have successfully finished the coursework part with outstanding performance and have demonstrated strong research ability.
- College English Test (CET) score is acceptable to some academic units, please visit corresponding website of each academic unit for details.
