The Master of Philosophy in Chinese Literature programme aims to: expose students to classic, modern, and contemporary Chinese literature as well as related theories; improve students’ competence in Chinese literature and enhancing their understanding of latest research and developments in the field; broaden students’ horizon and enable them to explore Chinese literature in new ways, new perspectives and by employing new theories; lay a solid foundation for the further pursuit of studies in Chinese literature; and equip students with the capacity for independent research and the ability to produce high-quality theses. Through this programme students will be able to: Demonstrate their understanding of classic, modern, and contemporary Chinese literature as well as related theories; Use their competence in Chinese literature to enhance their understanding of latest research and developments in the field; Explore Chinese literature in new ways, new perspectives and by employing new theories; Have a solid foundation for the further pursuit of studies in Chinese literature; and Produce independent research and high-quality theses.

An applicant of a Master’s degree programme must possess a Bachelor’s degree or academic background recognized as equivalent by the University of Macau. An applicant may also be required to possess other knowledge or professional experience. Applicants should have achieved the equivalent of an overall result of Grade C+ or better in the Bachelor’s degree studies.
