Aalto University offers eight English-taught bachelor’s programmes: 5 programmes in the field on science and technology, 2 in the field of business, and one in the field of arts.

After graduating from one of Aalto’s bachelor's programme, you will automatically have the right to continue studies in selected master's programmes.

Our purpose is to spark our students to become the game changers of tomorrow. We focus on student experience and quality of studies by future-led learning. Sustainability and multidisciplinarity are integrated to studies at Aalto in every programme, and we constantly develop our learning environments.

Aalto University offers more than 90 master’s programmes that are taught in English in the fields of engineering, arts, and business. 

We focus on student experience and quality of studies by future-led learning. Studies with hands-on learning and corporate collaboration make a perfect foundation for developing problem-solving skills in a realistic setting. As a student, you get to solve real-life business challenges and present your solutions to company representatives. Depending on the field and programme, students can also put their learnings into practice in workshops or laboratories. On Aalto campus, students have access to various self-study and co-working spaces, studios, and workshops.

At Aalto University, our purpose is to spark our students to become the game changers of tomorrow. Master's and bachelor's degree programmes
Aalto University has an extensive selection of different bachelor's and master's programmes and multiple student selections. Application periods for studies starting in the autumn of 2025 will be announced soon.

International joint degree programmes (double degree)

International joint degree programmes are two-year English-language master's programmes in which students study at two or more universities. Please note that the application periods and selection procedures differ from the rest of Aalto's master programmes. The application period of each programme can be found on the programme's webpage. Doctoral programmes

Admission to doctoral programmes varies according to the programme. Some have continuous admission throughout the academic year whereas others admit doctoral students 1-4 times a year. Being a student in Aalto's main campus in Espoo is a holistic experience since it’s possible to live, study, work and spend your free time all in the same treasure trove – a unique ecosystem dedicated to students, academic life, recreation, and startup businesses.

At Aalto, theory meets practice. The variety of our workshop and lab environments enables experiments with materials, methods and processes to be part of learning, research and artistic activity. There are also numerous group work facilities, studios and workshops that students can use freely outside classes. Among the students' favourite spaces is the Learning Centre, which offers library services, silent study areas, group work facilities, studios, a VR hub, a café and a stationery shop, to name a few.

The tuition fee for non-EU/EEA citizens in bachelor's and master's programmes taught in English is: 12 000– 15 000 euros per academic year for bachelor’s degree programmes and 15 000–20 000 euros per academic year for master’s degree programmes. Citizens of a European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) member state or Switzerland are not required to pay tuition fees for degree studies.

Tuition fees apply to degree programmes taught in English. In Finland, tuition fees are collected from students who are citizens of countries other than those of the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. Aalto University offers a small number of scholarships to fee-paying students. Aalto University Excellence Scholarships are merit-based and are granted on a competitive basis to the highest-achieving applicant based on the programme's evaluation criteria.

Yes, we arrange online and offline events and webinars, and participate in student fairs abroad and in Finland. We, for example, organise a week-long Aalto Open Days event for all prospective students and in 2024 it will be helo 30.9.–4.10. The hybrid Open Days event includes webinars on student experiences, applying and different services for students as well as live campus tours!
