Microbiologists study bacteria, fungi, and viruses, and their role in infectious diseases in humans, other animals and plants. On this degree, students will also learn how microorganisms contribute to environmental nutrient cycling, brewing, food, and biotechnology industries, whilst developing the scientific and analytical skills demanded in a broad range of professions. This degree is accredited by the Royal Society of Biology. Students can choose to study a number of IBERS modules in the medium of Welsh. 


This course is also available with an integrated foundation year, or year in industry. There is also the option to complete this course with an integrated masters (MBio).
