Established in 2004, Al Ain University (AAU) first welcome students in 2005, opening a second campus in Abu Dhabi in 2008

The university offers 17 undergraduate programmes across six colleges (engineering, pharmacy, law, education, humanities and social sciences, business and communication and media) and eight master’s programmes, as well as a professional diploma in teaching.

The College of Engineering is accredited by the US-based Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), and the university’s Bachelor of Pharmacy programme was the first in the UAE to be granted International Certification by the prestigious Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in the US.

Similarly, the university’s Bachelor of Law programme received accreditation from the Supreme Council for Evaluation, Research and Higher Education (HCERES) in France and, the Bachelor of Mass Communication and media is accredited by AQAS.

AAU has two campuses, one in Al Ain and another in Abu Dhabi.

AAU is strongly committed to the values of collaboration, diversity, excellence, respect and integrity with giving back to the community and taking part in the development of the UAE as the backbone of these values.  

The Engineering, Pharmacy and Business colleges offer all programmes in English, whereas other use English to teach some programmes, some in Arabic, and for some both English and Arabic are used.

The Al Ain campus is located in the heart of the city of Al Ain. Fully equipped with auditoriums, peaceful classrooms, modern scientific laboratories and an extensive reference library. Students can also enjoy the gym, health club, mosque, cafeteria and student lounges. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. Number of faculties: 94.

The Abu Dhabi campus is in Mohammed bin Zayed City. The campus is equipped with modern computer labs and free Wi-Fi. Campus facilities include a library, classrooms and a state-of-the-art theatre and conference room. Recreational facilities are also available in the form of a cafeteria, student lounges, a gym and much more. Total number of faculties: 85.

Al Ain University is an authorised IELTS Test Venue in partnership with the British Council.

The new expansion building at Al Ain campus features two floors and a ground floor, containing 10 ‘smart’ classrooms equipped with advanced display screens, internal speakers, and state of the art AV systems.

The building has eight laboratories equipped with the latest interactive technology, three main meeting rooms, discussion rooms, seminar and conference rooms, and a large multi-purpose auditorium as well as research and study halls. In addition to the entertainment and service facilities.

Recently, four outdoor football grounds were built at the Al Ain campus.

There are a number of learning support systems in place for students at AAU, including:

  • The bookshop
  • English Language Centre
  • Moot Court (at the College of Law is a simulation of a real trial in both civil and criminal matters)
  • Digital Language Labs
  • Microteaching Lab
57.7 percent of students at Al Ain University are international with 52 nationalities represented. 

There are a number of extracurricular activities for students through the Student Activities Unit which organises events and various scientific, cultural, artistic, sports and health activities.

The unit ensures students have an active role in choosing the activities and participating in certain events.

Students at AAU live in residence halls.

From the 2019 graduating class, 68.32 percent of graduates had found jobs within six months of graduation, but of the 2020 graduating class, 74.61 percent of graduates found a job within six months.
