Students in this unique program complete one year of a Master of Public Policy at the Crawford School of Public Policy followed by one year of a Master of Public Policy at the Graduate School of Public Policy, University of Tokyo (GrasPP). Upon completion, students will be awarded a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from each institution.


This program draws on strong research and collaboration connections between the two world-renowned institutions. It aims to prepare you for an innovative career in public policy in the Asia-Pacific region. At the Crawford School, the MPP will provide students with an introduction to the latest disciplinary policy debates in the social sciences and, with a mixture of theory and practice, to build the analytical tools and knowledge necessary for high quality policy analysis. The MPP at GrasPP adds the opportunity to gain perspectives on public policy skills and knowledge in one of the most influential public policy schools in Japan and the region.

To be eligible to apply for this program you must be currently enrolled in the Master of Public Policy (MPUPP)

Applicants must present one of the following:
  • Bachelor or international equivalent with GPA 5/7; or
  • Bachelor or international equivalent with GPA 4/7 and a minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program; or
  • Bachelor or international equivalent with GPA 4/7 and a Graduate Certificate or international equivalent with a GPA of 4/7; or
  • Graduate Diploma or international equivalent with a GPA 4/7; or
  • 48 units of courses in a postgraduate program with a GPA of 4/7; or
  • Graduate Certificate or international equivalent with a GPA of 4/7 and a minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program; or
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE) General test, completed no more than 5 years before the time of application, with a minimum score of 155 [150 for MIDEC and MEREC] for Verbal Reasoning, 155 [160 for MIDEC and MEREC] for Quantitative Reasoning and 4.0 [3.5 for MIDEC and MEREC] in Analytical Writing and a minimum of 3 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program; or
  • A minimum of 10 years full-time equivalent work experience at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 in a field related to the program.
