The Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) at Cal Lutheran is a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to public affairs education. This is a unique hybrid program designed to illuminate both sides of the work needed to create and manage public policy. The program offers big-picture understanding and techniques to create solutions for the issues we face, while equipping graduates with the practical tools needed to manage their implementation. Career Opportunities: Cal Lutheran Public Policy and Administration graduates have found new or higher positions in the private sectors as public relations officers, college professors and insurance executives. In the public and non-profit sector, they are working as: City managers; Public-safety administrators; Lobbyists; Human resource managers; Police and correctional management; Policy analysts; Recreation directors; Mental health directors; Directors of philanthropic organizations; School administrators; Managers in federal, state and city offices. Nationwide, MPPA graduates have secured such posts as public affairs officers in private organizations, financial administrators, museum directors, federal law enforcement officers, federal administrators, military officers, judicial administrators, city and county managers, state executives and marketing directors.

Admission Requirements

Students submit official transcripts showing a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution. Normally a grade point average of approximately 3.0 in upper division undergraduate work is expected.Test scores. Applicants whose undergraduate records do not satisfy the criteria below must include Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores in their admission portfolio. The admission test may be waived for candidates who present an official transcript of previous college work from a regionally accredited college or university reflecting any one of the following criteria: An undergraduate, upper-division grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) A combined grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the most recent 60 credits of study consisting of any of the following: graduate course work, upper division post baccalaureate course work (exclusive of extension or continuing education work), and upper division undergraduate course work A minimum of nine credits of graduate course work completed with a 3.50 grade point average A previously earned master's degree Note: All applicants who have completed their undergraduate work at an institution outside of the U.S. must submit GRE or GMAT scores and have their transcripts evaluated for equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's degree.
