The Interdisciplinary Educational Studies major is designed to prepare students to teach elementary school and earn a multiple subject California preliminary teaching credential. There are two pathways to achieve these goals: The Traditional Program: The traditional program consists of four years to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree and two semesters of graduate study through the Department of Learning and Teaching to secure a California preliminary credential. Standard admission procedures apply. Transfer students are welcome. The Integrated Program: The integrated program provides a course of study that allows qualified students to complete their Bachelor of Arts degree and their Californian preliminary multiple subject credential in four years. Students must be approved by the Director of Liberal Studies after University admissions for this program.

Admission Requirements

Students accepted for admission to Cal Lutheran should have completed a college preparatory program with above average achievement. The following high school course pattern is required as a minimum: four years of English, three of mathematics (through Algebra II), two of foreign language, two of social studies and two of lab science. Applicants from countries whose primary language is not English are required to take any one of the following English language exams: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) with a minimum computer-based score of 213 or paper-based score of 550; or the Pearson Test of English (PTE) with a minimum score of 54.
